Only number keys, ., − and Enter count as keystrokes. Backspace doesn't count, but the keys you deleted still count toward gross speed. How we score
What the numbers mean
Gross KPH counts every number key, decimal point and Enter you press, including keys you later deleted.
Net KPH counts only the keystrokes that match the target in the record you submitted. The Orange County posting below calls it the “corrected rate”.
Accuracy is correct keystrokes divided by the keystrokes the records called for. The full rules, with worked examples, are on how we score.
Use a real numeric keypad if you have one: Num Lock on, right hand resting on 4-5-6 (the 5 key has a bump). On a phone, the on-screen keypad works, but your speed won't match a keypad test.
